Our Services may include links to websites or platforms operated by third parties, as well as features that allow you to interact with them — for example, "liking," "sharing," or posting ArtLive content on social media. Information collected by such third parties is governed by their respective privacy policies, which we encourage you to review to understand how they handle your data.
We are not responsible for the privacy, security, or content of any third-party websites or platforms. Information you share publicly or semi-publicly (for example, on social media) may be visible to other users of ArtLive and/or users of those third-party platforms without restriction on its use.
The inclusion of third-party links or integrations within our Services does not imply any endorsement by ArtLive or Serif of those platforms, their owners, or their content.
What Information We Collect
ArtLive collects information about you in several ways, including information that you provide directly, data collected automatically through your use of the Services, and information we receive from other authorized sources. This information generally includes contact details, account information, activity data, creative content generated by you, and payment information.
When you use ArtLive, we may collect personal and non-personal information that you voluntarily provide, such as when you create or log into an account, contact customer support, participate in surveys or promotions, or use our AI photo and avatar generation features. This may include your name, email address, phone number, country or region, username, and encrypted password.
If you submit text prompts, selfies, or photo files to generate AI-based compositions and avatars, we collect and process this material as "Generated Content." Such content may contain personal information depending on what you include in it, and may be linked to your account and usage data.
Payment Information: When you make in-app purchases (such as purchasing coins to use app features), payment transactions are processed securely through third-party platform providers (such as the Apple App Store or Stripe). We do not directly collect, store, or process your full credit card numbers or banking details. We only receive payment confirmation, transaction summaries, and purchase history to fulfill your order, manage your account access, and prevent fraud.
When you use our Services, we also automatically collect certain technical and behavioral data to ensure functionality, maintain security, measure campaign performance, and enhance user experience. This may include your device type, hardware model, operating system and version, IP address, time zone, language settings, network provider, app version, access times, crash logs, navigation paths, and information about the features you use, as well as how often you interact with various functions of the app. We also track your activity related to AI photo and avatar creation, including the frequency and type of prompts submitted, content downloads, saved styles, and sharing actions. This "User Activity Information" helps us understand user behavior, improve performance, personalize recommendations, and prevent misuse. We may also collect device-specific advertising identifiers (such as Apple's IDFA) and interaction data related to our marketing campaigns to attribute app installs and optimize our advertising strategies. We collect this data using technologies such as cookies, SDKs, and similar tracking mechanisms across all platforms where ArtLive is available.
Additionally, we may receive information about you from other legitimate sources. When you sign in using a third-party account (such as Apple, Discord, or Microsoft), we may receive basic profile data, including your name, email address, and user ID. Marketing and analytics partners (for example, AppsFlyer, or Meta SDK) may provide us with aggregated data on user engagement, app installations, or campaign effectiveness. Where legally permitted, we may also collect information from publicly available or commercial databases to verify identity, prevent fraud, or maintain compliance with regulations.
How We Use Your Information
ArtLive uses the information we collect about you to operate and deliver the Services effectively, communicate with you in relation to your use of the app, provide support and product updates, market and promote relevant features, maintain and secure our systems, comply with legal obligations, and continually develop and improve our AI-powered avatar and photo platform.
Specifically, we use your contact details, account information, activity data, and creative content to authenticate your account, personalize your experience, configure app features, and ensure that the Services function properly. We also use your information to communicate with you regarding technical support, responding to your questions or comments, notifying you about updates, policy changes, and new functionalities.
From time to time, we may also use your information to send promotional content about new features, products, or events offered by ArtLive. You may opt out of marketing emails at any time.
Additionally, ArtLive uses aggregated and anonymized user activity data to analyze usage trends, monitor app performance, prevent system abuse, and detect or investigate fraudulent behavior. We may use certain non-identifiable user activity and creative data to enhance our AI models and improve the quality, efficiency, and personalization of our Services. Any data used for development or improvement is handled in aggregated or anonymized form and does not identify you personally.
Face Data and Visual Content Processing
When you use our AI-powered avatar generation and photo editing features, the app processes user-uploaded photos (such as selfies or portraits) that contain human faces. We do not collect or extract biometric identifiers, facial landmarks, face embeddings, or any data used for facial recognition or identity verification purposes.
Face images are used solely and exclusively to generate AI-based visual content that you explicitly request, such as generating personalized avatars, replacing photo backgrounds, or applying artistic effects. Your face data is never used for identification, tracking, profiling, advertising, targeting, or analytics purposes of any kind.
- Data Processing and Security: Face images are processed temporarily through our secure cloud infrastructure solely to perform the AI-based transformations you request (such as avatar generation). The processing is performed by trusted cloud service providers who are contractually obligated to handle your data securely and only for the purpose of completing your requested edits.
- Data Sharing: Your face data is not shared with third parties for any purpose other than the technical processing required to generate your requested content. We do not sell, rent, or otherwise distribute your face data to advertisers, data brokers, or any external parties.
- Data Retention: Face images are temporarily stored only during the processing phase and are automatically deleted within a short period (typically within 24–48 hours) after the avatar or content generation is completed. We do not retain face data beyond what is necessary to fulfill your editing request. Once processing is complete, only the final generated avatars you choose to save remain on your device or in your account under your control.
You maintain full control over your photos and can delete any saved images at any time through the app or your device's photo library.
How We Use Cookies and Similar Technologies
ArtLive uses cookies and similar technologies, including pixels, web beacons, and software development kits (SDKs), to collect information about your interactions with our Services. These technologies allow us to understand your browsing behavior, preferences, and engagement patterns so that we can improve functionality, personalize your experience, and measure performance.
These tools serve several essential purposes: enabling basic operation (authentication, session integrity), enhancing functionality (remembering preferences), and analytical/attribution tracking (understanding user engagement and evaluating the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns). Analytical, targeting, and advertising cookies or SDKs may be created, stored, and managed by third-party providers (e.g., AppsFlyer, Meta) that operate under strict data-protection agreements.
By using the ArtLive Services, you consent to our use of cookies and similar technologies. You can modify or withdraw your consent at any time by adjusting your device settings.
How We Share Your Information
ArtLive may share certain information about you in limited circumstances:
- Voluntary Sharing: When you collaborate, share generated avatars/art, or interact through social functions within the app.
- Service Providers & Payment Processors: We disclose limited information to third-party service providers who perform functions on our behalf. This includes cloud hosting services, AI processing partners, data analytics platforms (like Adjust or AppsFlyer), and payment processors (like Apple) to facilitate your in-app purchases. They are prohibited from using your information for any other purpose.
- Legal Compliance: We may disclose information when required by law, court orders, or governmental requests to protect the rights, property, or safety of ArtLive, our users, or the public.
- Corporate Transactions: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of Serif's business or assets.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third parties for commercial purposes.
How We Store and Secure Your Information
Serif operates globally, and the information we collect through ArtLive may be stored and processed in multiple locations. While our primary servers are maintained in secure data centers in the United States, we may transfer data to other countries in compliance with applicable laws.
If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, your data is transferred using appropriate legal mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
To protect your personal data, ArtLive employs administrative, technical, and physical security measures (e.g., encryption, access control). However, no electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
How Long We Retain Your Information
ArtLive retains your personal information only for as long as is reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice and to comply with applicable legal or contractual obligations, including maintaining accurate financial records for payment transactions. When information is no longer required, we securely delete, anonymize, or aggregate it. Face data uploaded specifically for Avatar Generation is deleted after the generation process is completed, as outlined in the "Face Data" section.
